Overview

A gentle walk beginning around the Prophet’s Mosque and heading into the old lanes and markets that still carry their original names. Your guide grew up here and tells you how the area changed over four decades and where the old houses and shops stood. Roughly two kilometres on level ground, with two stops for Arabic coffee and dates. We finish at the date market, where you can taste and buy at local prices.

    The old northern lanes

    Into the narrow lanes to learn the quarter names and where they came from.

  3. 6:10 PM

    Arabic coffee stop

    A short sit-down in a heritage café with coffee, dates and talk of the city’s old trades.

  4. 6:45 PM

    The date market

    The tour ends tasting Ajwa, Safawi and Barni varieties.

  5. Finish: 7:00 PM

    Back at the meeting point

    Total duration is 2 hours from departure to return.
