Overview

An evening camp forty kilometres north of Madinah where the city glow disappears entirely and the Milky Way is visible to the naked eye on clear nights. The programme opens with a talk on the constellations, then viewing through two telescopes. The camp includes a furnished floor majlis, a light dinner cooked on the fire, and tea and coffee all evening. The activity depends on a clear sky; we reschedule free of charge if dust or cloud prevents viewing.

  2. 7:45 PM

    Arriving at camp and the introductory talk

    Arrival and seating, then a half-hour talk on the constellations and tonight’s sky map.

  3. 9:00 PM

    Telescope viewing

    The moon, the solar-system planets and star clusters, in turns on two telescopes.

  4. 10:15 PM

    Dinner around the fire

    A light dinner and Arabic coffee before we head back, with free time for night photography.

  5. Finish: 11:00 PM

    Back at the meeting point

    Total duration is 4 hours from departure to return.

  • النشاط غير مناسب للحوامل أو من يعاني من مشاكل في الظهر أو الرقبة.
  • إلغاء مجاني مع استرداد كامل حتى 48 ساعة قبل موعد الانطلاق. بعد انتهاء هذه المهلة يُدرس الطلب حالة بحالة من قِبل فريق مرجان. في حال إلغاء النشاط بسبب الطقس أو قرار جهة رسمية يُستردّ المبلغ كاملاً بغض النظر عن المهلة.
